The Montreal Canadiens and general manager Marc Bergevin had a pretty quiet trade deadline.

Bergevin added some depth at the deadline but didn't add any of the big names and that's alright considering the team is in reset mode and didn't want to give up prospects.

However there's a smaller move that Bergevin didn't make that could cost the team a playoff spot.

Aside from his incredible performance against the Florida Panther back in January, Antti Niemi has had a really disappointing season.

Niemi currently has a 8-6-2 record along with a 3.78 goals against average and .887 save percentage, far from the necessary numbers you need from a backup goalie.

Bergevin could have likely landed a backup goalie for a mid round draft pick but decided to roll with Niemi and it looks like the move might back fire.
