The Montreal Canadiens and general manager Marc Bergevin have made it clear they'll be looking to sign an experienced backup goalie this summer.

Antti Niemi is headed to the KHL and Charlie Lindgren did not impress at all for the Laval Rocket last year with a .884 save percentage.

A couple of names have been thrown around like Cam Talbot, Brian Elliott and Keith Kinkaid.

Arpon Basu of The Athletic is willing to put his money on somebody else.

Basu is convinced that if the Carolina Hurricanes allow Curtis McElhinney to hit free agency, he'll be wearing a Montreal Canadiens jersey next season.

McElhinney had a great season in Carolina with a 2.58 goals against average and .912 save percentage and has looked just as good in the playoffs in three games with a 1.56 goals against average and .947 save percentage.

Do you think McElhinney would be a good backup for Carey Price?
