Yesterday we learned some absolutely scary and disturbing news regarding former Montreal Canadiens' defenseman Alexei Emelin.
Emelin had been hospitalized and was fighting for his life.
The former Habs' defenseman developed a fever after a KHL playoff game recently and had to be hospitalized.
Original concern was a possible COVID-19 infection but it seems he's gone into "toxic liver shock" after an allergic reaction.
Russia's Sports Express provided an update early Wednesday morning.
Emelin will undergo a emergency liver transplant after being diagnosed with acute liver failure.
He's currently in intensive care.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the defenseman and his family.
