The Edmonton Oilers need a power forward and unfortunately their solution was shut down by the NHL.

Reports indicate that the Oilers were closing in on a deal with Evander Kane however Kane finds himself under investigation by the NHL once again for breaking COVID protocols.

If they can't get Kane in an Oilers uniform, it seems they'll be looking towards the trade market and the Montreal Canadiens will be somebody they'll be reaching out too.

Oilers' insider Jim Matheson believes the Oilers could try and pry forward Josh Anderson away from the Canadiens.

Matheson wonders if the Oilers 2022 1st round pick, prospect Xavier Bourgault and "something else" could get it done.

Bourgault was the Oilers 1st round pick in 2021 at 22nd overall.

The 19 year old center currently plays for the Shawinigan Cataractes and has registered 42 points in 24 games this season.

Anderson holds an 8 team trade list and there's no indication that the Oilers could be on it.

Would you make this trade?
