Things are spicing up across the NHL as trades are now happening on a daily basis before Monday's NHL trade deadline.
The Montreal Canadiens aren't expected to do much, but one name that could be on the move is Ilya Kovalchuk.
While NHL insider Darren Dreger reports that the Canadiens and Kovalchuk are working on a possible one year $3.5million contract, it's not done yet.
Sportsnet's Eric Engels reports that even though an extension is being discussed Kovalchuk could get traded if the price is right.
Engels adds that after the Bruins freed up come cap space by unloading the David Backes contract, they've held onto their interest in Kovalchuk.
The problem is that after the Bruins traded their first round pick yesterday, it's hard to believe they'd also move out their second round pick.
I’m told that the even with the move for Kase, the Bruins are not out of the runnings to acquire Ilya Kovalchuk.
