The Montreal Canadiens search for a new general manager is winding down and while the search committee are crossing off some names, some names are taking themselves out of the race.

We heard recently that Kent Hughes had taken himself out of the race as he was happy staying put as a player agent.

According to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, another candidate has removed himself from the race deciding to stay where is.

LeBrun reports that Anaheim Ducks assistant general manager Martin Madden will be sticking around in Anaheim.

The Ducks actually prefer to keep him around and look at him as a possible replacement for their current vacant GM job.

Madden was looked at as one of the top 10 candidates for the Canadiens' job.

Do you think he would have been a good fit for the Habs?
