NHL GM's and owners have been jumping on conference calls the last couple of days trying to come up with a blueprint for the 2019-20 season.
While the season remains in limbo, it seems all but guaranteed that the league will find a way to award a Stanley Cup winner.
There's plenty of other questions including the NHL free agency, the NHL Draft and Draft Lottery.
According to the Athletic, one NHL team has proposed a tournament featuring non-playoff teams to land the first pick.
The reason why some would believe this would work:
- Bottom teams like Ottawa and Detroit would have home ice advantage.
- This would get all players back playing, not just playoff teams.
- This would create another source of revenue during a possibly lost NHL season.
“Radical times call for radical measures,” said one NHL source.
While the NHL will likely follow the most logical path to determine the draft lottery order, one unique idea has been proposed. | @CraigCustance https://t.co/JhyCdmZcQZ
