Montreal Canadiens' training camp is just about to start up and the Canadiens will make some final tweaks as they decide their opening night roster.

Some fans wanted to see the Canadiens sign Jake Gardiner however it wasn't meant to be.

There's another defenseman currently without a contract that some fans would like on the Canadiens this year, Andrei Markov.

Markov is trying to jump back into the NHL and stated it was his dream to play for the Canadiens again.

However general manager Marc Bergevin isn't on the same page as Markov.

Bergevin sat down with RDS's Marc Denis over the weekend for a one on one interview where he covered lots of subjects including the idea of Markov returning to Montreal.

“We have young defencemen coming through the system that we want to give a chance to: Juulsen, Mete, Brook and Romanov. You never know with KHL deals but I’m confident Romanov will be here next year. The Markov case is closed”

What do you think of Bergevin's comments?
