The Tampa Bay Lightning are always looking to free up some cap space as they're almost up against the wall.
Tampa currently has $1.8million in cap space and sitting as the top team in the league, they might want to add some players at the trade deadline for their playoff push.
While he doesn't carry a huge cap hit, Elliotte Friedman stated in his latest "31 Thoughts" column that the team is trying to move 24 year old blueliner Slater Koekkoek.
Koekkoek was drafted 10th overall in the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft hasn't lived up to expectations.
Friedman explains that with Ryan McDonagh and Mikhail Sergachev currently around on the left side, Koekkoek doesn't look likely to be part of the team's future.
Koekkoek is RFA after this season.
