It's no secret the Montreal Canadiens look absolutely brutal on defense right now.

Not only do they still urgently need a puck moving defenseman, but their defensive defensemen look like a mess.

Missing Shea Weber and Joel Edmundson doesn't help either.

At least now they now if things don't work out in Pittsburgh, they have a puck moving defenseman ready to play for them.

During a recent interview with Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, Penguins' defenseman Kris Letang told Lavoie he loves playing under pressure and would be interested in playing for the Canadiens.

“I want the pressure on my shoulders, I want to be the person who performs for his team. It brings the best of me, he said. There are different types of personality. Guys love in a market where people don't recognize them in restaurants and where the media pressure doesn't exist. There are not 100 people to ask questions after the games and analyze all the actions of the players. Others like the spotlight. [...] Me, I like the markets of hockey, the pressure. "

“I spent my career with the Penguins, they gave me my chance, helped me get through all the hardships in my life. I had the support of our two owners, Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle. I have a strong relationship with several players, including Sidney [Crosby]. [...] But if I have to sit down and think that hockey is a business, that anything can happen and that one day, the Penguins will decide to rebuild and let go of the old dead wood, it is sure that the Canadian - I come from Montreal, I was born there - would be in the interesting choices, declared the one who will be eligible for full autonomy next summer.

"It's hard to imagine yourself in another jersey when you've been wearing the same one for 15 years, but if you told me tomorrow morning that the Penguins didn't want me anymore, then if I had to give you a top 3 or top 4 teams [to choose], the Canadian would be one of the teams for sure. "

Letang will become UFA after this season at the age of 34.

Do you think Letang would be a good fit for the Habs?
