Despite having one of the biggest contracts on the team, one name we didn't hear a lot about this season was defenseman Karl Alzner.
Alzner was made a healthy scratch for the season and home openers and was even put on waivers during the season.
However he wasn't claimed and spent the majority of the season in Laval playing for the AHL's Rocket.
All in all, Alzner played nine games for the Canadiens and registered a point while playing 34 games in the AHL with one goal and five assists.
During his end of season press conference, general manager Marc Bergevin wouldn't comment when asked if he would buy out Alzner's contract this summer.
It sounds like Alzner would like to see a buyout.
During the Rocket's end of season pressers, Alzner told reporters that he hasn't spoken to Bergevin yet but is hoping for a new opportunity in the NHL. He added that he's not sure what the current situation is regarding the Canadiens.
Karl Alzner souhaite avoir une nouvelle chance de jouer dans la LNH. Il n’a pas parlé encore à Marc Bergevin pour connaître les plans du Canadien à son égard.
