There's been lots of storylines to follow this offseason with the Montreal Canadiens and one of the most important ones has kind of flown under the radar.

Laval Rocket head coach Joel Bouchard decided to walk away from the team after his contract expired and find work elsewhere.

It was pretty surprising considering the success the Rocket had while under Bouchard's wing and the relationship he had established with some of the players.

Many believed Bouchard felt a bit slighted by Dominique Ducharme being named head coach of the Canadiens and he just didn't feel there would ever be a promotion available for him.

Bouchard appeared on 91.9FM recently and it was pretty simple.

"I wasn't unhappy with the Rocket, but I wanted a new challenge to progress".

Bouchard signed with the Anaheim Ducks to be the head coach of their AHL team and many believe he'll have the opportunity to become NHL head coach if Dallas Eakins is let go.
