A large amount of Montreal Canadiens' fans were sad to see Ilya Kovalchuk traded just before the trade deadline after putting up numerous exciting performances with the Canadiens.
Those same fans will be very happy to learn that everything points toward Kovalchuk being back with the Canadiens next year as per information Canadiens' insider Eric Engels shared this week.
Sources have told him that it's all but guaranteed Kovalchuk will sign a new contract with the Canadiens during free agency.
Engels claims that Marc Bergevin will offer a short term contract filled with plenty of performance bonuses and that the two sides are extremely interested in reuniting for the 2020-2021 season.
This should be a lock as Engels only relays extremely credible information when it comes to the Canadiens.
Are you hoping to see Kovalchuk in a Canadiens uniform again?
