The 2019 NHL Draft is just around the corner and while the Habs' might not have a top five pick like last year, they can still land some talent at #15.
Scouts are pretty happy with the depth of the 2019 NHL Draft and have labeled the first two rounds as a B+ when it comes to talent.
Many believe the Canadiens will target a left handed defenseman in the draft and one name that keeps getting mentioned is Cam York from the US Development Program.
The 18 year old is a puck mover who has pretty good skating skills and registered 33 points in 28 games last year in the USHL.
The Athletic's Craig Custance compared all the top prospects to current NHLers recently and made a pretty interesting comparison for York which Habs' fans will be happy with.
Custance has York in the mold of a Morgan Rielly, who without a doubt would be a perfect fit on the Habs' roster.
Here's Custance's breakdown:
“There’s hardly anything that catches Rielly off guard. He seems to turn in flux situations into offensive opportunities. On the power play, he’s so natural to delegate – when the shot is there, he takes it. He’s efficient at using his flanks on the power play and keeping pucks alive. Yorkie has the same abilities.”
