After a tough California road trip, the Montreal Canadiens saw themselves on the outside looking in on a playoff spot.

However thanks to the New York Islanders, the Canadiens are still right in the fight.

The Islanders were able to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets last night by a score of 2-0.

The Blue Jackets and Canadiens are now tied with 79 points and each having played 69 games this season.

The Canadiens play the Detroit Red Wings tonight while the Blue Jackets play the Boston Bruins.

A Canadiens win and Blue Jackets lose would allow the Habs' to leapfrog them in the Wild Card standings.
