The Montreal Canadiens are competing right now and looking to lock onto a playoff spot.
If things continue the way they are, Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin will likely get the team some help at the trade deadline.
If it's a depth move or a blockbuster is yet to be seen, but with $8million in cap space, Bergevin can go out and land a big contract.
It doesn't have to be a rental who will be UFA next year either as NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said he expects that the salary cap will jump up to $83million next season.
The salary cap jumping from $78million to $83million would give Bergevin an extra $5million to plan for next season.
If the Canadiens stay in the hunt do you think Bergevin will pull off some deadline moves?
The NHL is projecting a salary cap of roughly $83-million for next season, per Gary Bettman.
