Montreal Canadiens' general manager Marc Bergevin does what he does best yesterday, make a trade out of nowhere for a player that hadn't been rumoured to be on the trade block.
It was an interesting trade as Bergevin landed soon to be free agent Joel Edmundson from the Carolina Hurricanes for a 5th round pick which will give Bergevin the opportunity to negotiate with the 6'5 215lbs defenseman ahead of everybody else.
While the trade looks good as size is always needed in front of the net we now have a bit of a traffic jam on the left side of the defense.
Ben Chiarot, Brett Kulak, Alexander Romanov, Victor Mete and Joel Edmundson could all be battling for spots.
However the truth is, Mete is now likely gone.
Marc-Antoine Godin had already labelled Mete as the second most likely player to get traded after Max Domi and now TVA Sports analyst Mike Bossy says this trade without a doubt means Mete is gone.
We're most likely to see Chiarot, Edmundson and Romanov dress on a nightly basis on the left side with Kulak being the 7th defenseman.
What kind of a return to you think the Canadiens can get for Mete?
