The Montreal Canadiens and general manager Marc Bergevin are heavy at work for the Canadiens' 2019 offseason.
First on the NHL offseason list is the buyout window, however it's unlikely Bergevin buys anybody out as it makes more sense in the long run to wait until next year to cut ties with Karl Alzner.
Following that the NHL Draft opens up next Friday in Vancouver.
At the draft, Bergevin could make a splash with a trade because he is looking to add to his current NHL roster and NHL insider Darren Dreger has labelled his main priority.
According to Dreger, Bergevin is looking to improve his blueline with a "good young defenseman".
It'll be interesting to see who Bergevin can snatch as he doesn't usually go for any of the names we hear in the rumour mill.
Dreger on The Morning Show on TSN690 says word on the street is Marc Bergevin would like to bolster his blue line and is in the market for a good young d-man. #Habs
