Once again will likely see some interesting changes during the summer for the Buffalo Sabres.

The Sabres missed the playoffs for the eighth straight season and ended up firing head coach Phil Housley.

An 82 point season from Jack Eichel and 40 goals from Jeff Skinner simply weren't enough to balance out horrid defensive play.

With still no coach in sight, the Sabres could lose Jeff Skinner to free agency and might be forced to move one of their defenseman as well.

According to multiple sources, the team has become a little disappointed in 24 year old defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen.

Ristolainen registered five goals and 38 assists last year but was a big part of their defensive struggles as he registered a league worst +/- of -41 on the year.

The 6'4 215lb defenseman has plenty of potential but clearly needs a change of scenery while signed through the 2021-22 season at a $5.4million cap hit.

It could be a sell low moment for Buffalo but with Skinner expected to command around $10million a season, it's likely a needed move.
