The Montreal Canadiens were hit with some devastating news yesterday.
Captain Shea Weber is dealing with way too many injuries and likely won't play during the 2021-22 season which would result in the Canadiens leaving him unprotected for the Seattle expansion.
Some unfortunate details are being revealed.
Not only will Weber not play in 2021-22, but it looks like he likely won't be able to play again.
Multiple insiders are reporting that Weber is so banged up that the NHL and NHLPA are currently investigating putting him on LTIR and Weber would in fact be retiring.
It's a sad ending for the Canadiens' captain and leader who came so close to raising his first Stanley Cup this past season.
More details to come.
Shea Weber’s body is beaten up. Is it possible he might play again? Possible, but leaning toward unlikely. The NHL isn’t commenting, however, based on history of other players granted LTI...if the NHL’s hardline doesn’t soften, this case will likely end in dispute with the PA.
