The Montreal Canadiens and general manager Marc Bergevin made a roster move yesterday that really had people freaking out.
Forward Paul Byron was placed on waivers to build up some salary cap space during their week off.
It was a risky move but a calculated one.
While Byron might be attractive on waivers to other teams, only about 4 teams actually have the salary cap space to claim him.
Regardless, the speedy winger can still bring value to any team.
Byron found out what his future holds on Monday and he'll be headed to the taxi squad as he went unclaimed.
Paul Byron (MTL), Alex Galchenyuk (Car), Par Lindholm (BOS), Danny DeKeyser (DET) and Gabriel Carlsson (CBJ) all clear waivers.
