The NHL Department of Player Safety announced this morning that Montreal Canadiens forward Paul Byron would have a hearing for his hit on Florida Panthers defenseman MacKenzie Weegar.

The hit immediately looked bad as it seemed that Byron left his feet for a headshot and Byron was given a penalty for charging.

Byron has never been suspended before however with the NHL announcing it was a telephone hearing, many expected it to be a two game suspension.

After reviewing the play and talking with Byron, the Department of Player Safety decided that Byron will be suspended for the next 3 games
