It's been one of the most interesting free agent situations in the last couple of years.
Jake Gardiner was supposed to be the top free agent defenseman available on the open market and possibly command a seven year deal worth $7million a season., however nobody wanted to sign him July 1.
Months rolled by and he remained unsigned until today, just a couple of days before training camp.
Gardiner has signed a four year deal worth an AAV of $4.05million.
The defenseman was linked to the Canadiens during the summer but his injury history and defensive struggles likely didn't interest the team.
