The Montreal Canadiens and general manager Marc Bergevin announced a contract on Thursday.

The Canadiens have agreed to a contract with Joel Armia who was headed for arbitration.

The deal is for two years and will keep him in Montreal until the end of the 2020-21 season with a $2.6million cap hit per season.

Armia dealt with an injury last year but set new career highs in a couple of categories including goals where he scored 13.

More to come.
