Another sad story and early death out of the NHL.
Former Nashville Predators captain and 13 season NHL veteran Greg Johnson has passed away at the age of 48.
The former NHLer passed away at his home on Monday.
Johnson was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round of the 1989 NHL Draft but never played a game for the Flyers.
He started off his career with the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins before finding himself a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.
His one year stint with the Blackhawks came to an end after he was selected by the Nashville Predators in the expansion draft.
He finished with 145 goals and 369 points in 785 games, including a career-best 50 points in his first season in Nashville in 1998-99. He was Predators captain from 2002-06.
