Marc Bergevin met with members of the media to discuss the free agent market and confirmed his interest in Taylor Hall.
Hall is still an unrestricted free agent and the Columbus Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche appear to be in on Hall as well.
Taylor Hall had 53 points in 65 games last season and is considered the top free agent forward on the market.
The Habs' would be allowed to go over the salary cap right now and would only need to make a move before the season to get under.
It would likely need to be a trade.
Hall has yet to sign today and many believe he won't sign for another couple of days.
Briefly, #Habs GM Marc Bergevin confirmed Montreal are interested in Taylor Hall as long as the term/AAV make sense & that the #Canadiens did indeed offer Wayne Simmonds more $$ than he signed for with the #Leafs but Simmonds opted to return to his hometown.
