The Montreal Canadiens and general manager Marc Bergevin issued a statement regarding forward Brendan Gallagher.
The forward left Monday's game with a thumb injury and there was lots of speculation regarding his health.
Head coach Dominique Ducharme said he was going through some tests and they were hoping he wouldn't be out too long and surgery wouldn't be required.
However it's not sounding too good.
The Canadiens have officially placed Gallagher on long term injured reserve and he'll be out a minimum six weeks with the injury.
No details were revealed on whether or not he will require surgery.
The only good thing if there is a good thing is that since Gallagher will be placed on LTIR, the Canadiens will be relieved of his full salary and much more money to play with at the deadline.
