Today marks the soft start of the Montreal Canadiens 2019-20 season as everybody is gathering in Laval for the annual golf tournament.
With the golf tournament we get to hear lots of interesting tidbits from players and management.
Of course some of the best comments and information comes from general manager Marc Bergevin.
We've heard about how good and young the Canadiens are and one of those key young pieces is Max Domi.
Domi is set to be a restricted free agent next summer and there's lots of pressure to get a long term deal done and that's exactly what Bergevin is trying to do.
"Yes, there have been discussions.
We are looking to sign long term. We make projections. One wonders how much it will cost us. Then you start negotiating. But if the vision of the player or the agent is not the same, he will say: look, we will wait a little more. We certainly had discussions. But as long as the player, the agent or the team do not agree on the number ..."
Bergevin added that Domi has arbitration rights and he's working hard to get it done long term, however it might not be done immediately.
