Just over a week ago the Montreal Canadiens lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs after the fourth line gave up two quick goals that the Canadiens weren't able to recuperate from.
Within 48 hours general manager Marc Bergevin revamped his fourth line bringing in Dale Weise and Nate Thompson to replace Michael Chaput and Kenny Agostino.
Last night against the Florida Panthers backup goalie Antti Niemi got the start to give Carey Price a break, however Niemi was pulled in the first period and Price was forced to play anyway.
After the game Claude Julien didn't sound too happy with his backup goalie.
“I didn’t want to use Pricer tonight,” Julien said. “Now he’s got to play four (games) in six (nights). We talked about that. It’s not good for goaltenders to be overplayed and you need those kind of situations where you can give a rest. Tonight wasn’t the night, so we have to deal with that. Those are things that happen when things aren’t going smoothly and you work through it. So we’re going to work through it and we’re going to be OK.”
Niemi has had a pretty rough season unlike last year and currently holds a .889 save percentage on the season and has given up 3 or more goals in 13 of his 16 starts.
Do you think Bergevin will trade for another backup goalie before the deadline?
