Former Montreal Canadiens' defenseman Alexei Emelin has kind of disappeared from the highlight reel since joining the KHL.
Always known for his big hits, we haven't heard much about him after his small stint with the Nashville Predators.
Well, he's in the news now and for a very weird reason.
Emelin has been fined $100k by the KHL and it wasn't because of an illegal hit or cross check, but rather because of what he was wearing.
The former Habs' defenseman was fined because he's still wearing gear that displays the NHL logo on it.
Check it out in the picture below:
As to why he's sprawled out on the ground, well he was chasing down a puck and was shoved in the back into the boards. Very ugly. The player who did it was ejected. However Emelin came back later in the game, only to deliver a vicious knee-on-knee hit. He too was ejected.
