Breaking news for the Montreal Canadiens have just traded striker Peter Holland to the New York Rangers for Adam Cracknell.

Some fans will find the situation extremely ironic as the Anaheim Ducks just sent Sami Vatanen to the New Jersey Devils in return for Adam Henrique, two players who had been mentioned in rumours with the Canadiens this past summer.

The trade is an AHL trade as Cracknell will report to the Laval Rocket. He's spent most of the season in the AHL playing with the Hartford Wolfpack and he's registered two goals and three points in 15 games played. He's had the chance to play four games with the Rangers where he hasn't been able to get his name on the score sheet.

Holland has been having a great season with the Rocket, the centerman has eight goals and 10 assists in 20 AHL games so far. He signed with the Canadiens as an unrestricted free agent during this past summer.
